DIVEMASTER

The Divemaster is the most popular professional level certification. In addition to guiding certified divers, Divemasters get to assist on courses, and teach ReActivate / Scuba Refresher course.

This is an internship-style course, where you participate in the daily life of our busy dive center. The course includes skill development both in confined and open water to the level that you can demonstrate them to others.

Your training will also cover the safety aspects of being a dive leader, and you will learn how to best take care of your customers in a variety of conditions.

You will work with our instructors and to learn from their teaching styles and briefings.

  • Be certified Rescue Diver
  • Last dive not more than 6 months ago, otherwise a Refresher / ReActivate course is required. 
  • Have logged a minimum  40 dives to begin the course and total of 60 dives to earn certification
  • Medically fit to dive, for safety, all participants must complete a brief medical prior to commencing the dive. If none of the listed conditions apply, you sign the form and you’re ready to start. If any of them apply to you, as a safety precaution, a physician must assess the condition as it relates to diving and sign a medical form that confirms that you’re fit to dive, dated within the last 12 months. FAQ

What's the course duration?

The duration of the Divemaster certification course ranges from one month to 4 months depending on your commitment, progress, total of your logged dives (minimum 60 logged dives) and completing the course requirements (theory, exam and practical)

Can i work with my DiveMaster certification?

As a Divemaster you are eligible to guide certified divers for fun dive trips and other duties (DM Do & Teach) therefore, you can work with this certificate in any dive center. In PDC, our divemasters are paid for any services they do for the center and it’s still a weekend extra cash and fun job

Is the application fee one time payment?

DiveMaster and all other professional certificates are due to annual renewal fees, which can be paid online by your credit card or through your professional login to the dive agency portal.

What DiveMaster can do and teach?
  • Guide certified divers on Discover Local Diving experiences.
  • Supervise both training and non-training-related activities by planning, organizing and directing dives.
  • Assist instructors during the training sessions for any Diver course.
  • Conduct the Try Dive,  Discover Snorkeling program.
  • Conduct the ReActivate / Scuba Refresher Course.
  • Accompany Open Water Diver students under the indirect supervision of a Instructor during surface swims to and from the entry/exit point and during navigational exercises and when the instructor conducts a skill, such as an ascent or descent, a Divemaster can remain with other student divers (with an individual student or buddy team).
  • Accompany student divers during Adventure Dives or Specialty training dives under the indirect supervision of a Instructor.
  • Conduct subsequent dives under an instructor’s indirect supervision for Discover Scuba Diving participants after participants have satisfactorily completed the first dive with a PADI Instructor.
What kind of equipment and gear i need to have for the course?

It’s always recommended to have the full set of dive equipment and gear since you are becoming a professional diver. 

However, the most essential gear you MUST have before you start the course are:

  • Standard gear: Wetsuit, mask, snorkel fins and boots.
  • Professional gear: Dive Computer, Compass, SMB, Reel, diver’s tool and torch. 
What are my privileges as a Poseidon Dive Center's certified DiveMaster?

After you are certified you are welcome to assist and work with us for as long as your time frame allows.

You can assist our Instructors and certified divers in their dive experiences, giving you valuable experience and be paid for your services.
