I completed my PADI Open Water Diver course through Poseidon Dive Center.

First of all, a big thanks to the instructor who conducted my pool sessions and helped me build the basic skills.

But the real hero of the course was Mr. Nawras. I never imagined that this person I saw sitting at the dive center on the first day would turn out to be such a perfect combination of patience, professionalism and knowledge. A real master at work,  his calm attitude made the entire training feel comfortable, safe and exciting at the same time.

Last but not least, Mr. Khalid deserves special appreciation. He always kept a close eye on all of us throughout the sessions, making sure everyone was safe and doing well. His support added a lot of confidence to the whole experience.

If you are an enthusiast ready to take your first step into the world of diving, I truly recommend choosing Mr. Nawras and Mr. Khalid as your instructors.

Thank you both for making this course an unforgettable experience!

A few weeks ago I completed my Open Water certification with Poseidon. It was a clear and easy process from start to finish.

My instructor Abdalla was incredible. Abdalla was calm and patient throughout. It never felt uneasy to ask for another demonstration or opportunity to practice. He recognised my nervousness about a particular skill and was sure to help me practice until I felt confident.

The wider team were brilliant and ensured everything was smooth- from signing up, fast replies to queries, inviting me into their dive community, transport to the dive site and more.

It was the best way to start my diving journey- I look forward to building my confidence, meeting new friends and exploring new places.

I recently completed my Open Water certification with Poseidon and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the very beginning, the team was professional, friendly, and incredibly supportive. Everything was well organized and I felt comfortable and safe throughout the entire process.

A special thanks to Abdullah who was my instructor. He was patient, calm, and extremely knowledgeable. He explained every step clearly, made sure I understood the techniques, and never rushed the learning process. His confidence and positive attitude made a huge difference, especially during the moments when I was nervous underwater. He created a relaxed and encouraging environment which helped me enjoy every dive.

The training was structured perfectly and the dive locations were beautiful. It was not just a course, it felt like a full experience where I got to meet amazing people, explore the underwater world, and build confidence in the water.

I am really grateful to Abdullah and the Poseidon team for making this journey so memorable. I would highly recommend Poseidon to anyone looking to start their diving adventure or continue their certifications. Truly a top class experience.

Getting my Open Water certification through Poseidon Diving Center was honestly one of the most grounding and meaningful experiences I’ve had in a long time.

From day one, the team didn’t just focus on getting me certified—they focused on getting me comfortable, confident, and truly connected to diving. Every lesson felt intentional. Nothing was rushed, nothing was brushed off, and every question—no matter how small—was treated like it mattered. That alone says a lot about the kind of instructors and people they are.

A huge part of that experience came from instructors like Nawras and Abdalla. Their calm, patience, and attention to detail made all the difference—especially in moments where confidence matters most. They knew exactly when to step in, when to let me work through things on my own, and how to explain skills in a way that actually stuck. You never feel rushed or judged under their instruction—only supported.

I came into this with a naturally anxious mind, and somehow the ocean became the one place where all of that noise disappeared. Abdalla and Nawras understood that balance between discipline and calm perfectly. They taught me that diving isn’t about fighting the water—it’s about trusting your training, your breathing, and yourself. By the end, “just breathe” wasn’t advice anymore—it was second nature.

What really sets Poseidon apart is the way they build divers, not just students. The pathway to Open Water certification felt structured, supportive, and deeply human. You’re not just checking boxes; you’re learning awareness, respect for the environment, and confidence that carries over far beyond the water.

This certification is only the first step for me, but Poseidon Diving Center—along with instructors like Nawras and Abdalla—lit the spark that made me want to keep going, toward Divemaster and beyond. If you’re looking for a dive center that cares about who you become as much as what you earn, this is it.

I’ll always be grateful for this experience. It didn’t just teach me how to dive—it taught me how to slow down, focus, and breathe.

Highly, genuinely recommended. 🌊🤿

First guided dive with Poseidon Diving Centre and it couldn’t have gone better. On-time, well organised shore dive in Qatar, with a friendly, helpful, and highly professional team. Would definitely recommend.

My daughter and I scheduled a private day of diving and had an amazing time. We had none of our own gear with us and were outfitted perfectly for our dives. We saw a huge variety of marine life and had a great time exploring. Thanks so much to our wonderful guides. My daughter has been a diver for one month, and I’ve been one for 35 years. We both came away with memories to last a lifetime. Recommend 100%!

Up until several days prior to Christmas I was unsure if time was allowing a morning out with PDC. Fortunately it did and their general policy of having a refresher dive if you haven’t dived recently is very good practice. I didn’t have any gear at all as away for a long period and everything was supplied in great condition and the correct sizes. Abdalla was a very knowledgeable and lovely person.

I'm from the UK and I reached out to Poseidon Dive Center on WhatsApp after finding myself in Doha rather than Delhi due to not having a visa. Within a few minutes, instructor Nawras responded and explained that diving is mostly on Fridays and Saturdays which is considered the weekend in Doha. Given that it was already Friday, and as an experienced diver, I decided to join Poseidon for two fun dives the next day on Saturday. All paperwork and forms were completed through WhatsApp/online in a very thorough and efficient manner. However, I had to get myself from my hotel in Doha to Sealine, about an hour south of Doha, for 05:30 the next day as the best conditions are in the morning before the day heats up too much. Despite being super early for me, this was easy to arrange by pre-booking a reasonably priced Uber for a 04:30 pickup the next day. The friendly driver, who bought me a green tea shortly after picking me up, dropped me at the meeting point where I met up with Nawras and the rest of the group. After a short drive over sand with deflated tyres, we arrived at the dive site and a tent was set up close to the water.

I set up my gear that I was renting from Poseidon as I only had my mask and dive computer with me. I paired up with my assigned dive buddy and before I knew it we were in the water. There are no natural reefs in Qatar, coral wouldn't survive in the extreme heat of summer and the cold waters of winter. Instead there is an artificial reef consisting of a GMC truck and other objects, in fact the first dive site is known as GMC. While the water is hazier than in, say, Egypt or the Maldives where there are many reefs that keep the visibility really high, the artificial reef was teeming with a large number of fish.

After the first dive, there was plenty of time for a break and to get to know the group. Coming from the UK, I was surprised to find that it felt more like a family than a random group of divers. Games were played, drinks were provided and much fun was had getting to know divers from all over the world. I learnt that 90% of the Qatari population consists of expats and yet I felt ever so welcome as an outsider to the group.

The second dive, at a site called New Club just along the beach from GMC, was quite eventful initially. As a PADI Rescue Diver I really should have known better than to leave my weight belt behind on the beach. Thankfully, the lovely divemaster Sara from Iran came to my rescue and found me some weights, helped me to calm down and we descended together from the surface all the way to the bottom. I would have been sunk without her, or rather I wouldn't have sunk without her! The rest of the dive went very well, we went a little deeper than the first dive and again we saw a large number of fish.

For me, it was a really special experience. Since arriving in Qatar unexpectedly just a few days ago, I have been so surprised at how welcome I have been made to feel. While some dive centres can be unwelcoming to newcomers, that was certainly not the case here with Poseidon. I would return in a heartbeat! I was fascinated to learn that Qatar has the world's largest school of whale sharks, around 400 I believe. Seeing a whale shark is a bucket list item for any serious diver or snorkeler. However, the reason there are so many in Qatar is perhaps because the area where they live is difficult to get to and they are very much protected. Perhaps I can see some on a future trip with Poseidon, on the other hand perhaps the sight of me might drive them away from Qatar to look for some peace and quiet elsewhere!

Thank you to all of you, I enjoyed meeting each and every one of you, but my special thanks to divemaster Sara for ensuring that I was able to do two dives rather than just one! 🙂

It was my 60th Birthday, on the way to Greece with a stop over in Doha. I have been wanting to learn to scuba dive and so discovering Poseidon Dive Center was based at the Hilton Hotel where we were staying seemed to be a sign to try out a dive. I contacted the centre and they arranged a solo dive leaving at 1pm on the Sunday. I know that diving is better in the morning for all sorts of reasons but my stop over timing meant that the afternoon was the preferred option.

Was met at the Dive Center by Nawness and Riyas and we all drove out of Doha and down to the beach passing the gas fields along the way. The drive down was great chatting to Nawness and Riyas and learning about diving and about living and working in Doha. It felt like a bit of a road trip in the big red Chevy pick up.

Arriving at the beach they quickly set up the equipment and kitted me out. A quick safety and communication check and we were in the water. After getting used to the equipment and being under water we went deeper until we came across the the first of the old car wrecks and where the fish are. It was great to encounter and be amongst the hundreds of fish, small, medium and large, and to feel that I was in safe hands under the watchful experienced and professional eye of Nawness.

After a tour of more car wrecks, hanging out with more fish and posing for various photos and videos we surfaced. It turned out we had dived for 42 mins, although it seemed like only 10 mins.

We quickly took off the equipment and then back in the Chevy, just in time to see loads of white Land Cruisers arriving to have some fast fun driving on the dunes, and then arriving back at the Hilton, thoroughly exhausted.

All told, it took about 4 hours and was without a doubt a most memorable experience and one of my most memorable birthdays. Although I will take the courses and dive in some wonderful places in the future, I guess you never forget your first dive.

Cheers guys.

Great experienced instructors, they welcomed me with open arms and they are a lot of fun. Everyone at the shop has so much information to give you not just about the lessons and gear but places to go and things to see around the world!
