SIDEMOUNT DIVER

This course teaches you how to configure and use one or two cylinders mounted at your sides instead of on your back.

Experience a different way to streamline in the water, reduce lower back strain and take advantage of the increased gas supply for longer dives.

Sidemount diving is configuring the diver’s cylinders under the diver’s arms, rather than on the back. This configuration is well suited to a lot of different environments and implies excellent advantages for divers with limited mobility that prefer sidemount over wearing back mounted cylinders.

FAQ

Is sidemount Safe?

Side mount offers real gas redundancy by using two independent cylinders, preventing complete air depletion.
It increases safety by protecting the valves and regulator first stages under the armpits, where they are visible and easy to reach, permitting a fast identification and handling of eventual equipment failures.

Is sidemount comfortable to dive with?

The configuration is comfortable to wear as it releases the weight from the back and the hips. Also, it becomes easy to take off and put the cylinder back on, without removing the harness. This can be practical on the surface, but also very enjoyable underwater!

Can i dive with one cylinder in sidemount?

The configuration is also versatile. You can carry a single recreational scuba cylinder, usually on the left side. You lose gas redundancy, but this is of course not an issue, as long as you’re diving with a buddy and within non-decompression limits

How many cylinders i can carry?

The Razor system can carry up to six full on side mount and stage cylinders for cave and technical diving purposes

Does the certificate expires or has renewal feel?

No, the Advanced Open Water Diver Certificate does not have expiry date nor need to be renewed, however, you will need to keep diving very often to build up experience in diving and not to forget what you have learned during your course.

What can i do after i get certified?
